Monthly Mentor Support Squad

This month is National Mentoring Month, and we are excited to announce one way BCYMP is celebrating. We are thankful for Shane Anderson from Brookings Home Team, Powered by Century 21, Krogman & Co, for helping us celebrate National Mentoring Month. Shane, a BCYMP Board Member, is automatically gifting a 3-day/2-night family fun trip or a Las Vegas hotel & casino trip to the first 20 donors in 2020 who join or level up in our Monthly Mentor Support Squad, BCYMP’s monthly donor program. To get a trip as a thank you, commit to a $10, $20, $25, $50, or  $100 recurring monthly donation for at least one year, or, if you’re already a member of the Mentoring Support Squad, increase your existing giving amount. As a thank you, you will receive your choice of two trip vouchers. If you choose the Family Fun Trip, you will be able to choose the destination from a list of 58 different U.S. states and Canadian provinces such as Denver, Orlando, San Francisco, Houston, and Rapid City. The other trip option is 3 Night Las Vegas Hotel and Casino trip and can be redeemed at popular hotels such as The Luxor, Excalibur, SLS, and Flamingo. Donors may either use the trip certificate for themselves–OR or can gift to an individual of their choice. The trip must be redeemed within 24 months and subject to availability for when the trip can be scheduled. The donor will pay travel, other trip costs, and activation fee and taxes. Donors must be 21 years or older to qualify for the trip prize.

In addition to our Monthly Mentor Support Squad, BCYMP is looking for caring adults looking to positively change their own life and the life of a Brookings County youth. Currently, we have roughly 50 youth on our waiting list in need of a mentor to provide a consistent, stable, and positive relationship in his or her life. At any given time roughly two-thirds of our waiting youth are males. The National Mentoring Partnership, MENTOR, reported 44% of Americans are not yet mentors, but are considering mentoring and two-thirds of Americans consider it highly important for young people to have mentors.
