On November 17th, 2019 Alpha Zeta, an SDSU greek organization that is an honorary fraternity for top students in the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences, hosted an event for BCYMP Mentoring Pairs.
The Mentoring Pairs had over 10 activities to participate in, including crafts like making farm animal masks, barn photos frames, and chia pets planted in plastic cups.
An activity that was a big hit was agricultural related “minute to win it” games. A soybean roll, corn toss, flour tower, stacking cutie oranges and moving corn by only using a straw were a few of the many fast-paced games the pairs enjoyed learning and participating in.
Alpha Zeta also had a snack that was of “dirt” and “worms”, which is a combination of pudding, oreos and gummy worms.
Mikayla Sauber, a Junior member of Alpha Zeta said, “ The event went really well. The Mentors and Mentees all seemed to have a fun time. The members all agreed it was a great experience and we definitely want to be partnering on another event with BCYMP.”
BCYMP plans group events to give Mentoring Pairs shared experiences that strengthen their relationship and give the Mentees opportunities they might not otherwise enjoy.
This has been a special event sponsored by SDSU’s Alpha Zeta Fraternity If you are interested in hosting an event for BCYMP, use this link to indicate your interest.
